Getting To Stansted Airport

By Public Transport

Train:

London Stansted airport has a rail terminal below the terminal building, making the airport assessable for passengers by rail.

The Stansted Express offers a quick service from central London to the airport. The train runs from London Liverpool Street Station to Stansted Airport via Tottenham Hale where there is a tube (Underground connection). The journey time is 45 minutes and the frequency is 4 times an hour. Fares start from £17 for a single ticket and £24 for a return ticket. The trains run from early morning until late in the evening. There are also National Express rail services to London Stratford and Lea Valley stations. The service is once an hour in the off peak hours connecting Stansted airport with the main stations along the Lea Valley to London Stratford, these include Bishops Stortford, Harlow Mill, Harlow Town, Enfield Lock, Angel Road, Northumberland Park, Tottenham Hale. This service operates from Monday to Saturday only.

There are Cross Country train services from London Stansted with Audley End, Cambridge, Ely, Peterborough, Leicester and Birmingham. From these stations other connections around the UK are available. Bus & Coach:

Local buses are available from outside the terminal building including several services from Arriva Bus, the bus number 133 takes you to Braintree in Essex, whilst the number 510 takes you towards Harlow. The Easybus EB2 service to London Victoria and Baker Street in central London, offers a cost effective way to get to and from the airport, there are services every 20 minutes, 7 days a week. There are a number of National Express coach services linking Stansted airport with London and other towns and cities. The National Express coach service offers a service from Victoria station in central London to the airport via stops in North London such as Golders Green & St Johns Wood, the service takes approx 1 hour and 45 minutes and the frequency is around every 15 to 20 minutes. The service is 24 hours a day. Other National Express services cover Stratford in East London, Norwich, Cambridge, Nottingham and others. By Car

Stansted airport is assessable off the M11, if you are travelling from London take the M11 until junction 8a, exit the motorway and follow the signs for the airport.

If you are travelling from Cambridge, take the M11 and exit the motorway at junction 8 and follow the signs for the airport.

Airport Car Parking

London Stansted airport has facilities for both Short Term & Long Term Car Parking. Short term The first 15 minutes in the pick up zone car park cost £1 making it useful for dropping off passengers or collecting them once they are out of the terminal building. The short stay parking charges start from £1.80 for 30 minutes and are £6.40 for up to 2 hours, the cost is then £10.40 for 4 hours. You can save on the cost of parking by pre booking.


Long Term parking is available, charges start from approx £9 per day if you pay on the day you arrive. The long term car parking can be pre booked, reduced prices & discounts are available if you book earlier, if you do need long term airport parking it is advisable booking in advance rather than on the day to both guarantee a parking space and save money on parking costs.

There is also Mid Term Parking available at the airport, this is suitable for stays of at least 2 days, the charge is £15.50 per day if you pay when you arrive, there are savings and discounts available if you pre book. The Mid Term car parking is closer to the terminal building and passengers can benefit from shorter transfer times to and from the car park.

Valet Parking offers a fast way to get to the airport with passengers saving time from having their cars parked for them when they arrive and returned to them when they return. While this service is not the cheapest car parking option it does offer convenience and time saving for those that need it.
