Flamingo Land includes a theme park, zoo & holiday resort, located next to the village of Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire. The site is located over a 375 acres site located in the scenic North Yorkshire countryside. The theme park includes approx 60 rides and attractions with something for the whole family.

Attractions


Flamingo Land includes a choice of rides and attractions that are contained within the themed areas, including Children’s Planet the play zone for younger visitors. The Extreme rides offers visitors plenty of action and excitement whilst the Family rides offer something for the whole family to enjoy. In addition to the theme park, the site also includes a zoo and holiday resort.

The Extreme Rides offer plenty of excitement and adrenaline filled fun. Rides include Cliff Hanger, a vertical drop ride combining launch and drop experiences. The Flip Flop ride is located over a lake, it is a Fabbri top swing ride that both swings and rotates, there are mines to look out for along with water jets. Kumali is an exciting looping suspended roller coaster ride that is one of the showpiece rides at the theme park. Sky Flyer is an exciting double inverted swinging ship that spins through 360 degrees with forward and backward loops. Velocity offers an unusual motorbike launched roller coaster, the exciting ride offers plenty of adrenaline filled action with a number of falls and daring hairpin turns reaching speeds of up to 54 mph.

The Kids Rides offer plenty of excitement and fun for younger visitors, rides include a number of junior carousels including the jungle carousel and flying clowns. Frog Hopper is a junior vertical drop ride where children are introduced to a free falling experience. Helitoys is a helicopter themed ride where the helicopters fly left, right and spin around before landing safely back on the ground. HMS Bouncy is a soft play area themed on a pirate ship with a climbing wall, games, puzzles with plenty for children to see, do and explore. Children’s Planet is an active play area that includes talks and animal handling sessions aimed at having an educational and fun environment for children to learn.

The Family Rides at the park include Balloon Race where visitors can sit in four seat gondolas in the air mimicking flying in a real hot air balloon. Zooom is a suspended roller coaster with an aircraft theme , whilst the Twistosaurus is a spinning roller coaster with each car’s movement unique and fully independent of the others. The Navigator is the first Megadisk-O ride in the world that includes over 100 foot of half pipe track and a 360 degree spinning disk. The disk spins around to over 60 feet offering plenty of thrills for the whole family.

The Zoo is among the most popular in the UK, visitors can find in excess of 140 species of mammals, reptiles and birds. Among the birds on show are emus, flamingos, parrots, macaws and penguins. Mammals include lions, tigers, hippos, giraffes, monkeys, kangaroos and more. The zoo plays a leading role in animal conservation playing an active role in a number of conservation projects. The zoo hosts a number of tours and events that include animal handling sessions, daytime shows include the sea lion show, the bird show and the mia and mylo show. Keeper Talks offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about a range of species housed in the zoo, talks cover hippos and giraffes, flamingos, lemurs and baboons.

The Holiday Resort is located close by to the theme park and zoo, in scenic countryside. There are a number of accommodation options available including caravans, camping, lodges and cabins offering comfortable accommodation and facilities. Local facilities include the leisure complex that includes pool sauna and gymnasium. The Parkland Golf Course provides golfing facilities for golfing enthusiasts to enjoy a round in scenic surroundings. The Club provides live entertainment with a varied programme that includes live music, dance and cabaret.

How to Get There


The site is accessible by both car and public transport.

By Car:

The distance from central London is approx 240 miles with a journey time of approx 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours 30 minutes depending on traffic and time of day.

From London take the A41 then the A4 that becomes the A1(M) continue along the A1(M) that becomes the A1 for certain periods until junction 44 on to the A64 and exit here towards York. Continue along the A64 then take the A169, then turn left on to Kirby Mispertan Road and keep going until a turn on the right for Flamingo Land.

Car Parking is available on site free of charge. The car parks are located within five minutes walk of the main entrance to the park.

For those using Satellite Navigation systems the postcode to use is YO17 6UX.

By Train:

From London King’s Cross Station there are services to York railway station with a journey time of around 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes approx. From York rail station visitors can get the Yorkshire Coastliner route 840 that takes visitors to Flamingo Land.

Bus/Coach:

There are regular coach services from London Victoria coach station to York via National Express, the journey time is approx 5 hours to 5 hours 30 minutes depending on time of day & traffic. From York visitors can get the Yorkshire Coastliner to access the park.

Opening Times:

Flamingo Land is usually open from the middle of March to the start of November:

Mon to Sun: 10.00 to 16.00/18.00 approx. There are certain days when the opening times vary due to weather conditions.

There are a number of eateries and restaurants on site that includes offering a choice of cafes, diners, fish and chips, grills, sports bar and more with a choice of British and international cuisine. Visitors can find light snacks, hot and cold snacks and main meals along with a choice of drinks including soft drinks, milkshakes, wines and beers.

There may be some variations on the opening hours depending on the time of year and other factors. It is advisable to double check before going to ensure the attraction you wish to see is open and avoid disappointment.

Follow common sense travel tips and remain alert, vigilant and aware of your belongings at all times. Keep valuables such as wallets/purses hidden away from public view.
