Adventure Wonderland includes a theme park & attractions for families with children up to 12. The park is located close to Bournemouth in Dorset. Adventure Wonderland is located next to the village of Hurn a few miles from Bournemouth in Dorset. The park originally opened back in 1992 and over the years has gradually expanded in size and included more rides and attractions. Located just a few miles from the sandy beaches of Bournemouth and neighbouring Poole Adventure Wonderland is a popular local attraction offering the excitement of an amusement park with the fun of the seaside. There are over 30 rides and attractions for visitors to enjoy located in the Wild Thing, Wonderland and Adventureland areas of the park. The park is aimed at families with children up to 12 years old providing family rides and attractions for an enjoyable day out for the entire family.

Attractions


Adventure Wonderland includes a number of family friendly rides and attractions. The Wonderland area includes a number of rides, including the Adventure Wonderland Maze, one of the largest mazes in the UK. Charlie Cool’s Driving School offers children the chance to drive a safari styled jeep around a purpose build track. The Flying Elephants ride allows children to glide along sitting on the cheerfully designed elephants. The Curvy Caterpillars Ride is based around the caterpillar in the Alice stories, the gentle ride is suitable for young children and is one of the favourite rides at the park.

The Adventureland area include Battle Boats where boats with in built water jets battle it out against each other, visitors are virtually guaranteed to get wet and have plenty of fun. The Giant Yo-Yo Ride takes visitors both round and round and it bobs up and down just like a yo-yo. The Ghostly Galleon ride is where visitors sit aboard the corsair cruiser that swings from side to side creating plenty of excitement and fun.

Wild Thing is a large indoor Aztec adventure play area, the centrepiece include the Montyzoomers Thunderdome that includes ball volcanoes and air blasters offering plenty of fun for children. For smaller toddlers there is a separate play area that includes slide and climbing frame. There is the Wild Thing Café where visitors will find hot and cold drinks and snacks. The Wild Thing gift shop includes a range of souvenirs and memorabilia.

The Bournemouth Aviator Museum is located on site; there are 20 exhibitions that are dedicated to the world of flying, exhibits include piston and jet powered aircraft and a RAF rescue helicopter. Visitors can see the cockpits and get a real sense of what it is like to sit and fly. Visitors can sit in the flight simulator and get a real sense of what it is like to fly.

The Pony Palace at Adventure Wonderland includes a number of horse and donkeys in their stables and offers children the opportunity to have a ride on a pony. There is also a riding school offering a range of pony related activities.

There are a number of events that are held in Adventure Wonderland each year; the Wild Christmas Wonderland includes plenty of Christmas fun and frolics with a pantomime, craft sessions, indoor play areas and even a visit from Santa! At Halloween the park hosts a number of spooky Halloween shows, scary maize and a host of Halloween inspired activities.

How to Get There


The site is accessible by both car and public transport.

By Car:

The distance from central London is approx 105 miles with a journey time of approx 2 hours.

From London take the A4, then M4 at junction 4B take the M25(S) at junction 12 exit the M25 on to the M3, then from the M3 take the M27, A31 and A338, then take the B3073 until the turning on the left for Merritown Lane.

Car Parking is available at a number of car parks located 5 to 10 minutes walk away. Seaway Car Park is located 5 minutes walk away and coasts approx £10 for all day parking. The Royals Car Park is located in the Royals Shopping Centre, approx 5 minutes walk away, the approx cost is £15 for all day parking. There are a number of other car parks and car parking bays located in the area.

For those using Satellite Navigation systems the postcode to use is BH23 6BA.

By Train:

From London Waterloo Station there are services to Bournemouth railway station with a journey time of around 2 hours. From Bournemouth station there is an airport bus service. From Bournemouth airport it is approx a 10 minute walk to the park.

Bus/Coach:

There are regular coach services from London Victoria coach station to Bournemouth coach station located next to the railway station from where there are services to Bournemouth airport.

Opening Times:

Adventure Wonderland is usually open from the middle of February to the start of October during the main season:

Mon to Sun: 10.00 to 18.00 approx. (last entry at 16.00 and outside rides close at 17.00. There are certain days when the park is open at varying times including at Halloween and Christmas.
