Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a theme park & resort with a number of attractions for the whole family. The park is located in the town of Blackpool, Lancashire in north England. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is among the most visited attractions in the UK attracting millions of visitors each year. Dating back to the late 19th century, the theme park is among the longest established parks in the UK; over the years the park has expanded to include more attractions and new rides and covers an area of approx 42 acres and includes just under 40 rides and attractions offering something for the whole family including roller coasters, thrill rides, water rides and rides aimed at children. The Pleasure Beach along with the famous Blackpool illuminations are two of the best known attractions in the town. The Big Blue Hotel was added in 2003 & offers visitors a 4 star hotel next to the theme park.

Attractions


Blackpool Pleasure Beach includes a range of rides and attractions ranging from thrill rides to family rides to rides designed for children to enjoy. The Thrill Rides offers plenty of adrenaline filled excitement whilst the Family Rides offer a something for the whole family. Nickelodeon Land is dedicated to children and with famous characters along with a number of themed rides with plenty for children to explore.

The Thrill Rides include the famous The Pepsi Max Big One; known for being the fastest, largest and scariest rollercoaster in the park, making it a firm favourite for adrenaline seekers. The roller coaster includes a drop of 235 feet and speeds of up to 87 mph offering plenty of thrills and adventure. Avalanche is a bobsled rollercoaster offering plenty of twists and turns whilst the Big Dipper is a classic wooden roller coaster known for its twists and banked turns. Infusion offers visitors an exhilarating experience, located entirely over water the steel inverted roller coaster offers a reverse orientation with legs rather than arms exposed.

Family Rides include the Wallace and Gromit Thrill-O-Matic where visitors are taken through the adventures of Wallace and Gromit, visitors can look out for great special effects and scenery along with some friendly and not so friendly characters. The Alice Ride takes visitors through the world of Alice in Wonderland that includes the famous characters. Other attractions include Tea Cups, Dodgems, Flying Machines, Go Karts, Grand Prix and much more. The Chinese Puzzle Maze includes a number of water features and winding walkways

Nickelodeon Land is the children’s theme park covering an area of 6 acres, there are around a dozen rides and attractions for children to enjoy. There are a number of shows and characters from the Nickelodeon television network. Attractions include Avatar Airbender; designed like ancient airbenders; visitors sit in a disk that soars higher and higher. The Blue Flyer is a children’s wooden rollercoaster whilst SpongeBob’s Splash Bash gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy plenty of water based fun activities.

There are a number of other activities that can be found in the theme park, these include ice skating, Ripley’s Believe it or Not that includes a number of unusual and strange exhibits. Adventure Golf is available with waterfalls, streams, bright lighting and a clubhouse that offers refreshments. The arcades include a number of the latest video games, virtual reality systems and a number of hi tech simulation experiences. Bowladrome is the bowling alley theme when dinosaurs.

There are a number of live shows offering a range of entertainment, including comedy, ice dance, dance, magic and illusion and music.

The Big Blue Hotel is the theme parks hotel offering comfortable 4 star accommodation. Located next to the theme park it is ideally located for visitors to the theme park and Blackpool’s other attractions. Facilities include hotel bar and restaurant, fully equipped gymnasium and conference and meeting facilities.

How to Get There


The site is accessible by both car and public transport.

By Car:

The distance from central London is approx 240 miles with a journey time of approx 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours 30 minutes.

From London take the M1, then the M6 until junction 32, at junction 32 take the M55 then the A5230 and follow the brown tourist signs to get to the pleasure beach.

Car Parking is available at a number of car parks next to the Pleasure Beach including on Balmoral Road, Bond Street and at the Pleasure Beach railway station and costs approx £10 for all day parking.

For those using Satellite Navigation systems the postcode to use is FY4 1EZ.

By Train:

From London Euston Station there are services to Preston railway station with a journey time of around 2 hours 10 minutes. From Preston there are services to Blackpool North railway station with a journey time of approx 25-30 minutes. From Blackpool airport it is approx a 5 minute drive away.

Bus/Coach:

There are regular coach services from London Victoria coach station to Bournemouth coach station located next to the railway station from where there are services to Bournemouth airport.

Opening Times:

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is usually open from late March to the start of November during the main season:

Mon to Sun: 10.00/11.00 to 17.00/20.00 approx. There are certain days when the opening times vary due to weather conditions.
