M&D’s is a theme park located in Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell, Scotland that includes a number of rides & attractions for the family. The theme park is located within the tranquil surroundings of the country park that includes Strathclyde Loch, the park is easily accessible from the city of Glasgow. There are in excess of 40 rides and attractions at the theme park with rollercoaster’s, amusement arcade, bowling alley, 18 hole mini golf course and more ensuring there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

Attractions


M&D’s includes a choice of rides and attractions offering thrills and fun for the whole family, for thrill seekers there are a number of thrilling white knuckle rides, along with family rides and rides for children. There are a choice of attractions to enjoy with ten pin bowling, 18 hole mini golf, indoor tropical rainforest, amusement arcades and more.

The Thrill Rides at the park offer visitors action and adventure with a number of white knuckle rides. Rides include the Tsunami, an inverted roller coaster ride that is sure to provide plenty of adrenaline filled action with a number of twists, loops and turns at speeds of up to 65 kph. Tornado is the largest roller coaster at the park with over 1,000 metres of track, riders can experience the 360 degree loops at speeds of up to 80 kph. Space, is a ride that offers plenty of turns, twists and bends, the fast accelerating roller coaster one of the most popular rides at the park for thrill seekers.

The Runaway Mine Train is a roller coaster ride where riders will experience the g forces as the train twists, turns and spirals around offering an exhilarating experience. Captain’s Curse is a pirate ship themed ride where the ships swings backwards and forwards increasing the swing each time. Bungee, provides something for real thrill seekers, here visitors can sit in a spherical steel cage and be catapulted in to the sky whilst also spinning 360 degrees, at launch the speeds are in excess of 90 mph.

The Kids Rides offer something for younger visitors to enjoy, Sea Storm is a ride where riders climb abroad the ship and sail through choppy waters. Big Apple is a family roller coaster with a 300 metre track with a number of twists, turns, drops and lifts. Flying Jumbos is a ride where kids can sit on elephants going round the mother elephant that is 30 metres in the air. Trampolines at the park are extra spongy providing children with plenty of extra bounce jumping higher than before.

The Family Rides include the classic favourite Dodgems where drivers can drive through the traffic, remembering to bump in to friends and family. Wave Swinger is a traditional chair swing ride with 32 tilting chairs that swing around at 14 revolutions per minute. The Big Wheel is 35 metres in high and includes 24 spinning gondolas with room for 6 people each; here visitors can enjoy some wonderful views of Strathclyde Country Park. Moby’s Revenge is a water slide that includes three differing types of water slide for visitors to try each offering a different experience, visitors can enjoy plenty of fun and splashing on this ride.

Amazonia offers a unique experience in Scotland, visitors can experience the only indoor tropical rainforest in the country. Inside visitors will find a number of exotic animals along with the vegetation, trees and tropical plants. Animals to look out for include monkeys, snakes, bats, ants, tropical birds and more.

Gamezone is a large amusement arcade offering in excess of 150 games to play. The area includes the latest arcade games where visitors can enjoy the latest hi technology simulators and experience all the thrills and spills. Devil’s Island offers an 18 hole mini golf course offering great fun for the whole family as visitors play across bridges, water, caves and more.

Diamond Lil’s is a snooker and pool lounge that includes 2 snooker tables and 8 pool tables with a bar area serving a choice of drinks and snacks. Krazy Congo is a soft play area for young children offering children plenty of fun and adventure, the area is supervised and a popular destination for parties.

Cosmic Bowl is a place where visitors can play ten pin bowling with glow in the dark bowling alleys. There are 16 lanes along with air hockey and an in house restaurant serving a choice of snacks, meals and refreshments.

The Alona Hotel is located within Strathclyde Country Park, the hotel offers comfortable 4 star accommodation and facilities and is ideally located next to the theme park. Visitors can combine a stay at the hotel with visiting the theme park and other local attractions with the city of Glasgow located 20 minutes away.

How to Get There


The site is accessible by both car and public transport.

By Car:

The distance from central Glasgow is approx 13 miles with a journey time of approx 20 minutes. Whilst from Edinburgh the distance of approx 40 miles with a journey time of 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.

From Glasgow take the M8 towards Carlisle, then take the M73 at junction 8, then take the M74 towards Carlisle. At junction 5 of the M74 take the A725 exit to Bellshill/Edinburgh, at the roundabout, take the second exit and keep driving until M&D’s appears on the left. From Edinburgh take the A71 then the M8, then the A8 and the A725 towards Carlisle/East Kilbride, keep driving until the roundabout and take the first exit and keep driving until M&D’s appears on the left.

Car Parking is available on site and is free of charge.

For those using Satellite Navigation systems the postcode to use is ML1 3RT.

By Train:

From Glasgow Central Station there are regular services to Motherwell railway station, with a journey time of 15-25 minutes depending on the service. From Motherwell station visitors can get a taxi to the park that is located approx 4 miles away.

Bus/Coach:

There are bus services from Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station with the X7 service, that takes visitors from central Glasgow to the park and back again, the journey time is approx 20 minutes.

Opening Times:

M&D’s is usually open from the middle of March to late October:

Mon to Sun: 11.00/12.00 to 16.00/18.00 approx. There are certain days when the opening times may vary due to weather conditions.

Facilities:

There are a number of eateries and restaurants located at the park, the Food Court is where visitors can find a pizzeria, chicken dishes and burgers. The Inside Out bar include large LCD screens with sports action and a beer garden. The Family Restaurant includes a large international menu from Scottish favourites to pizza to salads, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, fish and chips, grills, burgers, sides and desserts.
