Getting To Gatwick Airport

By Public Transport

Train:

The Gatwick South terminal has a rail terminal that regularly services the airport. There is a dedicated Gatwick rail, the Gatwick Express that goes from central London (Victoria train station) to Gatwick airport every 15 minutes, the journey time is 30 minutes. It is the fastest way to get to Gatwick airport from central London, tickets are around £17 single & £29 return. There are a number of other train services operated by train companies such as Southern, First Capital Connect & South Eastern that also take passengers to Gatwick, the journey times may be a bit longer than that for the Gatwick Express but the fares are cheaper & are a good option to consider.

Bus & Coach:

Metrobus runs a number of bus services taking passengers to and from Gatwick airport to the surrounding areas that include Crawley and Redhill. The services are Fastway 10, Fastway 20, Route 100 & Gatwick direct 200, the frequency ranges from once every 8 minutes to once every half an hour.

There are also a number of coach services taking passengers to and from the airport, National Express operates services to Gatwick airport from a range of destinations including from central London at Victoria station. By Car

Gatwick is located in West Sussex, 28 miles to the south of London and is linked to the M23 motorway at junction 9 and the A23 London to Brighton road. The airport is around 10 minutes by car to the M25 junction 7 that links to many major roads and connections across the region. If you are driving from the M23 follow the airport sign from junction 9 to the airport. If you need the M25, drive from the M23 junction 9 for around 10 minutes until junction with the M25 appears (it is signposted), the M25 at the intersection is junction 7 from here you are on London's orbital motorway.

Airport Car Parking

Gatwick airport has facilities for both Short Term & Long Term Car Parking. Short term There is a minimum cost of £1 for short term parking of up to 15 minutes. The cost for up to 5 hours parking is approx £10. There is a facility at the short term car park to park for up to 15 minutes for no cost, this is ideal for those dropping someone off at the airport or picking them up after they are out of the terminal building. The short term parking charges start from £0.60 pence and are around £5-£6 for 2 to 4 hours.

Long Term parking is available on a number of secure car parks around the airport. Car parks include the Long Stay South Terminal, Summer Special Parking Gatwick in the South Terminal. Cheaper prices & discounts are available if you book earlier, if you do need long term airport parking it is well worth booking in advance rather than on the day to both guarantee a parking space and save money on parking costs.
