Getting To London City Airport

By Public Transport

Train:
The train stations close to the airport include London Bridge, Waterloo and Stratford International. The stations can be reached on the Jubilee line on the Tube from Canning Town which is a short seven-minute DLR journey to the airport. The Docklands Light Railway is an over-ground train system that connects East London to the London Underground network. The London City Airport DLR station is connected to the airport terminal making it quick and convenient to use for passengers getting to and from the airport. The airport is located in zone 3 for travel cards and tickets. The DLR leaves from the London City airport every 7 to 15 minutes. Journey times are approx 7 minutes to Canning Town and around 22 to 25 minutes to Bank station in central London. For further information please see: London City Airport DLR


Bus & Coach:
There are bus services that take passengers to and from the airport to the surrounding areas, these include Bus number 473 that takes passengers from the airport to Stratford, Silvertown, North Woolwich and on to Prince Regent DLR Station.

The Bus number 474 operates a service between London City Airport, Canning Town, North Woolwich and East Beckton via Silvertown.

By Car

London City Airport is located approx 6 miles to the east of the London City centre and the drive takes around 15-30 minutes depending on where in the capital you start. The airport is located currently outside the London Congestion Charge zone, however if you are travelling to the airport via the City of London you may well go through the charge zone and would be viable to pay the charge, it is wise to check before you start your journey. Those coming to the airport from outside London should get there via the M11 southbound that turns in to the A11 or from the M25 at junction 27 where there is an interchange with the M11. From the M25 junction 28 you can take the A12 that will take you towards the airport.

Airport Car Parking

London City airport has facilities for both Short Term & Long Term Car Parking. Short term There are no time period given to drop off or pick up passengers, however passengers can be dropped off on the forecourt next to the terminal building. Note that vehicles cannot stop there so you would have to ensure you drop off passengers only and drive away without waiting there. The minimum cost of parking at the short term car park is £7.00 for up to 60 minutes, the cost is then £12 for 2 hours and £18 for 5 hours. With the cost of parking steep, it is worth pre booking parking to save some of the cost.

Motorcycles and bicycles can park at the airport free of charge.

Long Term parking is available, charges start from £32 per day if you pay on the day you arrive. Premium parking located adjacent to the terminal building offer parking option in addition to the short & long stay options. The cost is around £30 for 24 hours and £35for up to 2 days parking. The long term car parking can be pre booked, cheaper prices & discounts are available if you book earlier, if you do need long term airport parking it is well worth booking in advance rather than on the day to both guarantee a parking space and save money on parking costs.

Valet Parking is also available at the airport at no extra cost the charges start from £7 for up to 1 hour and are £40 for up to 24 hours. The option is useful if you are short of time as the car will be parked for you and brought back to you when you return.
