Adventure Island includes a theme park & attractions, located on Southend seafront there are plenty of rides & attractions for the whole family. Adventure Island is located on Southend seafront next to the famous Southend Pier, established as an amusement park since back in 1976, over the years the theme park has grown to include more rides and attractions. Adventure Island is a popular attraction offering the thrills of an amusement park with all the fun of the seaside. There are over 30 rides and attractions for visitors to enjoy with the park rides split between the big adventure blue bands rides, junior green band rides and mini red band rides. Visitors can discover a range of attractions, events & shows here from adrenaline packed roller coasters for thrill seekers and family rides and attractions offering a place the whole family can enjoy.

Attractions


Adventure Island includes a number of rides and attractions. Unlike the majority of theme parks in the UK, there is no entrance fee. Visitors play to go on the rides, there are three ride bands available. The Big Adventure Blue Bands Rides are available for those over 1.2 metres, the Junior Green Band Rides are available for those between 1 metre and 1.2 metres and Mini Red Band Rides for those under 1 metre.

Mini Red Band Rides include the American Whip, a spinning cups rides providing plenty of fun for younger visitors. The Big Wheel is an amusement park classic providing the opportunity the whole family to enjoy the ride whilst enjoying some wonderful views over Adventure Island and Southend seafront. Jungle Express is a mini train ride where visitors can explore the various animals from inside their carriages. Kiddi-Koaster is a fun ride for younger visitors and is the ideal first roller coaster experience.

Junior Green Band Rides include the Dragon, a roundabout ride that spins both ways building up speed. Barnstormer Coaster is an exciting roller coaster ride, Over the Hill is a ride that include CGI animations and special effects for a great dark ride experience. The Mighty Min Mega is a fast roller coaster that includes plenty of twists and turns.

Big Adventure Band Rides include the Rage roller coaster offering visiting an exhilarating experience with plenty of turns and twists. Vortex is an orbiter spin ride, whilst visitors can get that falling feeling at Sky Drop where there is a 70 foot fall, whilst Scorpion is a fast spinning tri star ride. Other attractions at the park include adventure golf, dodgems, go karting and more.

There are a number of events that are held in Adventure Island each year; the big Saturday nights out include free live entertainment including acrobat displays, dance troops and tribute acts. During Halloween there are a number of events including Black Scream where visitors can live actors as scary waxworks and experience the ghost train ride at Over the Hill. Adventure Island also hosts a number of corporate events and adventure and birthday parties.

How to Get There


The site is accessible by both car and public transport.

By Car:

The distance from central London is approx 40 miles with a journey time of approx 1 hours 15 minutes.

From London take the A13 towards Southend, approaching Southend there are brown tourist road signs, follow those and follow signs to Southend seafront.

Car Parking is available at a number of car parks located 5 to 10 minutes walk away. Seaway Car Park is located 5 minutes walk away and coasts approx £10 for all day parking. The Royals Car Park is located in the Royals Shopping Centre, approx 5 minutes walk away, the approx cost is £15 for all day parking. There are a number of other car parks and car parking bays located in the area.

For those using Satellite Navigation systems the postcode to use is SS1 1EE.

By Train:

From London Fenchurch Street Station there are services to Southend Central railway station with a journey time of around 1 hour 15 minutes, the station is a 7 minute walk from the park. From London Liverpool Street Station there are services to Southend Victoria railway station with a journey time of 1 hour. The station is a 15 minutes walk from the park.

Bus:

There are regular bus services from London Victoria coach station to Southend-on-Sea, with a journey time of 2 hours. The coach goes to Chichester Road bus station, located 5 minutes walk from the park.

Opening Times:

Adventure Island is usually open from the middle of March to the start of November during the main season:

Mon to Sun: 11.00 to 17.00/18.00 approx. There are certain days when the park is open late between 20.00 and 22.30

Blue Bands (over 1.2 metre riders): £25 approx (£20 online price), Green Bands (1 metre to 1.2 metre riders): £20 approx (£15 online price), Red Bands (under 1 metre riders): £15 approx (£10 online price).


Facilities:

There are a number of eateries and restaurants on site serving hot and cold snacks, meals and desserts. Choices include pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, fish and chips, ice creams, candy floss and more.

There may be some variations on the opening hours depending on the time of year and other factors. It is wise to double check before going to ensure the attraction you wish to see is open and avoid disappointment.
