The city of Brighton and Hove is located in East Sussex on the south coast in England and has long been synonymous with the various beaches located here. Brighton's beaches are among the best known and most popular seaside areas in England. The pebble beaches are amongst the best known on the south coast along with the famous seafront, marina and Brighton Pier. The beach has an excellent rating by the Marine Conservation Society making it an ideal place to go for the whole family.

Brighton's beaches are located on England's famous south coast, the location makes them a popular destination for those living in London and the surrounding areas when looking to enjoy a seaside break or day out. Brighton is home to a number of beaches these include Brighton Central (Palace Pier) beach, Brighton Kemp Town beach and Hove beach.
Brighton Central (Palace Pier) beach is centrally located and probably the best known of the beaches here. The beach itself has a log stretch of shingle and sand shore attracting sun worshippers, families and water sports enthusiasts. The beach is well known for the historic Brighton Pier where visitors can find a number of attractions and traditional seaside amusements. The pier dates back to the 19th century and is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Brighton. The pier is a Grade II listed building and includes a number of thrill rides, traditional rides including dodgems, kids rides, traditional seaside stalls, amusement arcades, bars and a number of eateries.
Brighton Kemp Town beach is located a short distance to the east of Brighton Central beach. The beach is located in the Kemp Town area of Brighton close by to Brighton Marina, offering an alternative to explore. The Kemp Town area includes a number of historic buildings dating back to the Regency and Victorian era. The area includes a choice of bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants serving both British and international cuisine; there are a choice of hotels in the area too.

The promenade at Hove is wider than the one in Brighton making it an ideal place to enjoy a relaxing beach stroll. Local attractions include Hove Lagoon Watersports Centre where visitors can learn water sports including sailing, yachting, power boating, wind surfing and more with courses available for children too. From Newcastle, Durham and much of north east England the area is 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours by car, from Leeds it is 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours by car, from Birmingham and much of the Midlands it is 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours 30 minutes. From Liverpool and Manchester it is approx 5 hours to 6 hours.
From Cambridge and much of the East of England it is 2 hours 15 minutes to 3 hours by car. From Cardiff and areas within South Wales it is 3 hours to 4 hours by car.

During the 19th and 20th centuries the town became synonymous with being one of the UK's leading market gardening centres.

The town of Lewes is located 9 miles to the north east of Brighton in East Sussex. By Train:
From London St Pancreas station and London Victoria station there are regular services to Brighton train station. The journey time is approx 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on service, connections and time of day.
By Bus/Coach:
There are regular coaches available from London Victoria Coach station to Brighton Coach Station. The approx journey time is 2 hours to 2 hours 15 minutes depending on connections, time of day and traffic. Coach services to Brighton Coach Station are provided by National Express
