Business Customs and Etiquette

Business greetings are usually formal with a handshake, people are usually addressed formally and should wait to be invited to use first names. Punctuality is deemed very important for meetings and a non confrontational style is preferred. There can be bureaucracy and strict adherence to protocol and rules so decision making can take time, be prepared to be patient, it can take several meetings to reach a decision.

Business dress is conservative and mainly formal; many Czech business people speak English however it is best to check to see if the services of an interpreter are required. Visitors should note many businesses are closed during the holidays in July and August and it is best to avoid these periods.


Travel Advice and Tips

The Czech Republic is a relatively safe country for travel for both business and leisure visitors with the vast majority of trips being incident free. However there are incidents of pick pockets especially in crowded public areas and theft with valuables stolen. It is important to be aware of your surroundings and environment and remain vigilant at all times.

Czech Republic Weather & Climate

Czech Republic's location in eastern Europe give it a continental climate with typically warm and dry summers with cold winters. The best of the weather is usually between May to September benefiting from warm days and cool nights, autumn is usually colder and wetter and winters can be cold, foggy and include snowfall. The coldest month is January whist the hottest month is July. The relatively moderate climate means it is a destination that can be visited throughout the year.

Lightweight cotton and linen clothing can be warn in the summer months, a jumper or jacket s advisable in the cooler evenings; rain coats and umbrellas are advisable throughout the year. Additional layers and warmer clothing (medium to heavy) is required in the winter.
