The city of Cambridge includes a range of entertainment options for visitors; the city offers theatres, film and cinemas, a range of live comedy venues and dance productions from traditional to opera, ballet and contemporary.

Theatre


Fans of the theatre can visit the Corn Exchange is the largest entertainment venue in Cambridge. There is a varied programme of events that include stand up comedy, shows and concerts. Originally a corn exchange, it is now a multipurpose event centre and is regionally and nationally renowned for its programmes relating to new music and contemporary events. Located in Wheeler Street in the centre of the city its location makes it convenient for visitors how have been exploring the city during the day.


Cinema


Cambridge includes a number of cinemas located in the city including cinemas from larger cinemas chains such as Vue and Cineworld to smaller and independent cinemas showing a range of British, Hollywood and International films.

The Arts Picturehouse in Cambridge is located opposite Emmanuel College in the city centre. The cinema shows a range of art house, independent, foreign and commercial films.

Vue Cambridge cinema is located inside The Grafton shopping centre on East Road. The4 cinema is located approx 10 minutes walk from the city centre. The multi screen cinema includes 8 screens and is close by to local shopping and restaurant facilities.

Cineworld Cambridge cinema is located one mile from the city centre in the Cambridge Leisure Park. There are 9 screens at the cinema, the Cambridge Leisure Park includes a choice of restaurants, bars and a live music, theatre and events venue at the Junction.



Concerts


For fans of gigs, the Junction is one of the best places to see live music. The Junction is situated in the Cambridge Leisure Park, offering over 1,000 performance each year. There are 3 venues on site with the J1 venue used for live music gigs and clubs. The venue plays host to artists performing a range of music genres including attracting a number of local and touring bands of international repute.

There are plenty of events going on in Cambridge, it is best to check before you visit to see if the timings fit in with your schedules.

In the summer there is the Cambridge Folk Festival that takes place at Cherry Hinton hall in Cambridge. The long running folk festival has established itself over the years as one of the UK’s leading festivals and includes an eclectic mix of musical artists giving live performances. The music played emphases a wide definition of folk music.

The Cambridge Beer Festival takes place in spring each year, established back in 1974 the festival has become a favourite for lovers of real ales, cheese and British specialities. The festival is located in Jesus Green to the north of Cambridge city centre, the festival includes local beers and from around the world, cider, perry, wine and a choice of foods including local bread, hams, savoury items and pork pies.
