The hotel is housed inside a spacious Victorian building dating back to the 1860’s, the building maintains some period features adding to the character of the building.

There are a total of 12 guest bedrooms to choose from for guests, there are twin, double and family rooms available. The individually designed rooms have plenty of character and are furnished and decorated to a good standard offering guests comfortable 4 star guest accommodation. All the rooms come with en-suite facilities and include television, alarm/clock radio, refreshments welcome pack and tea and coffee making amenities.

The hotel is non-smoking throughout in accordance with company policy.

Guests can choose from a continental and full English breakfast each morning that is included in the room rate. There is a choice of hot and cold items including a choice eggs, sausages (including vegetarian sausages), beans, cereals, toast, yoghurts, pastries, fruits, juices and tea and coffee providing a great start to the day.

The guest house provides bed and breakfast accommodation, for lunch and dinner there are a number of pubs and restaurants in Matlock town centre located a short away. There are is choice of cuisines available including local British, Italian and Thai.

The historic city of Derby located 20 miles away, the city is home to a choice of eateries, cafes, bars and restaurants to suit a range of tastes and budgets. Visitors can choose from cuisines from around the world available including British, Chinese, Thai, Indian, European and international.

Local Attractions


Attractions in the local area include the Peak District offering visitors a range of scenic walks and beautiful countryside. The historic spa town of Buxton is known for its impressive architecture and spring water, Buxton is located 20 miles from the hotel. There are plenty of activities on offer for visitors. The hotel is a good place from which to discover other local attractions including Donington Park motor racing circuit one of the most popular racing circuits in the UK. There are historic houses close by such as Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House.

The city of Derby is known for the historic Derby Cathedral, dating back to the 10th century. Other attractions in the city include the Derby Museum & Art Gallery, where visitors with find a number of collections and displays with historic artefacts covering the history and culture of the city. Derby Arboretum is famous for being England’s first public park dating back to the 19th century. The park includes a café, play area for children and offer a fine place to enjoy a walk in a scenic setting.

The Silk Mill is located in Derby, it is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The mill is located on the site of one of the first factories in the world and includes displays, exhibitions and artefacts from local industries.

The hotel is located in Derby where visitors will find a range of shopping facilities, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues. The hotel is a convenient place from which to explore the attractions in Derbyshire and surrounding areas such as Staffordshire including Drayton Manor located 52 miles away with a journey time of approx 1 hour 10 minutes by car from the hotel.

The A50 and A6 offer access to East Midlands Airport located approx 33 miles away by road. Birmingham Airport is located 44 miles south with a journey time of approx one hour.
