Boating holidays in the UK offer a world of possibilities whether you are new to boating or experienced. The UK with its many miles of canals, rivers aligned with the scenic countryside and dynamic cities offers a wonderful boating experience. Boating opens up the possibilities of the countryside, it can bring you closer to the great wildlife and sights on the riverside while at the same time providing a relaxing experience too.

You can relax and take in some great scenery while travelling serenely, there are some locations worth visiting. These include Stratford-upon-Avon the birthplace of Shakespeare and Bath famous for its Roman baths. The River Thames offers a historic waterway, many moorings are free with the added benefit of many restaurants and pubs being located on the riverside. Attractions include the town of Henley famous for the royal regatta and Hampton Court Palace. There are also many landmarks to look out for along the way.

The Rivers Ouse and Ure offer great views of the Yorkshire Countryside and a gateway to the historic city of York with its many attractions including many restaurants, character filled pubs, railway museum and shopping centres among others.

The Norfolk Broads are a very popular place for those that like boating and it is not difficult to see why. The rivers offer great conditions for cruising and the natural beauty of the area has been unspoilt for many years. Scotland offers a number of lakes and rivers, the Loch Ness the stuff of legend being among them. The pure mountain air and scenery are a joy to behold along with charming villages in the highlands. Boating can be a most relaxing experience in this most natural and scenic area. See Ben Nevis the UK's highest mountain and a visit to the Loch Ness museum is a popular attraction. Outdoor pursuits such as angling, walking and climbing can all be enjoyed here.

Wales has the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal offering boating enthusiasts a great trip through the Brecon Beacons National Park that it runs through. The area is synonymous for its unspoilt natural scenery, there are several charming small villages to explore where you can stop off at the restaurants and enjoy refreshments.
