The family run hotel has plenty of character and harm and has been refurbished to offer comfortable 4 star accommodation and facilities.

Local transport links in the area include Thorpe Culvert train station located just under 12 miles away; where there are services to the surrounding areas including Nottingham and Skegness. The hotel is close by to major roads including the A16 and A158 providing good road connections. There are limited public transport services, for visitors wishing to tour the county the rural nature of the county easiest way to travel to the hotel and around the county is by car.

The restaurant serves both British and International cuisine from the a la carte menu, there are a choice of meat, fish and vegetable dishes to try along with a range of tempting desserts. The restaurant uses fresh, local produce to create a selection of dishes suitable for most tastes and options for vegetarians. There is an impressive wine list for the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

The hotel’s location in the market town of Alford in Lincolnshire provides visitors with a convenient location from which to see the various sights and attractions both in the local area and in the county of Lincolnshire. Lincolnshire offer visitors with scenic and rugged coastline with a range of landscapes, a rich history and culture along with the peaceful English countryside making it place well worth visiting.

There are a number of local attractions and places of interest located in the local area. The town is known for its craft markets that take place in August, there are also weekly markets. The Alford Five Sailed Windmill is located 10 minutes walk from the hotel; the 19th century windmill has seven storeys and has been restored and now produces organic flour.

The Alford Manor House is a Grade II listed building located a few minutes walk from the hotel. The 17th century manor house is the largest thatched manor house in England; the house now houses a number of art and craft exhibitions inside.

Lincoln is located approx 35 miles from the hotel where visitors can find famous attractions such as Lincoln Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the Usher Art Gallery. There are a number of historic buildings here including the 10th century Jew’s House that is now a restaurant. The Usher Art Gallery includes a range of collections including a range of silver, miniatures, watches and porcelain.

Lincoln Cathedral dates back to medieval times and incorporates Romanesque architecture. The large size of the castle ensures it can be viewed from 20 miles in all directions. The exterior of the castle is impressive having been described as art in stone, visitors can view the stunning carvings in the stones and wood. The castle is well known for the central tower that reaches in excess of 270 feet.

The 11th century Lincoln Castle is built on the site of the Roman Fort of Lindum. The castle has a huge 12th century curtain wall along with two mottes, two gates, and a large round tower Cobb Hall. A Georgian building in the bailey contains one of the original Magna Carta documents sealed by King John. The castle includes a heraldry centre, magna carta exhibition, gift shop and café & refreshments. There are scenic grounds around the castle where many visitors enjoy picnics in a beautiful setting.

The Waterside Shopping Centre is located in the city centre and includes 35 stores including fashion stores and well known high street names. Lincolnshire has a mix of shopping centres, independent shops and traditional local markets. The area is known for its historic market towns such as Horncastle known for its antique shops.

The Lincolnshire countryside is ideal for enjoying a number of leisure activities including historic walks on the Viking Way, horse riding, cycling, fishing, golf and many others.

The Normanby Hall Victorian Walled Garden is located just over 30 miles from Lincoln close to Scunthorpe, the impressive garden maintains is Victorian splendour with a range of vegetables, flowers and fruits. Visitors can see a wonderful example of a restored Victorian garden here along with the impressive English mansion house offering an interesting day out.

Skegness is a favourite destination for those after the traditional seaside experience. The seaside town is located approx 40 miles from Lincoln, here visitors can find a range of seaside fun and entertainment for the whole family from gardens, amusement arcades and donkey rides. The beaches are very popular among visitors, there are also activities available such as kite surfing and wind surfing.

The pier is popular with visitors and contains a number of attractions and the main road along the beach contains a range of attractions including crazy golf, amusement arcades, cafes and bars.

Skegness is home to the annual SO Festival, an arts and music festival that takes place in July each year. The town centre includes the Hildreds Shopping Centre with over 30 stores including famous high street names. Skegness is well known for the Butlins holiday camp located close by.

The town of Cleethorpes is located 35 miles from Lincoln; it is popular among holiday makers and is known for its pier and the Pleasure Island Family Theme Park where there are a range of rides and shows for the whole family.

Lincolnshire has a scenic coastline including the coastal resort of Mablethorpe where visitors can see some dramatic coastline and a number of beaches offering a quieter alternative to Skegness away from the crowds. The Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is an area with rolling upland split by valleys; there are quiet, peaceful small villages each with its own individual character and charm.

Grantham is a town located 25 miles from Lincoln; historic attractions include the 14th century Church of St. Wulfram, which includes a spire at close to 300 feet. The church is situated close by to the 15th century school where the famous physicist Isaac Newton was formerly a pupil, former prime minister Margaret Thatcher is also from the town. Grantham House is one of the oldest buildings in the town, having been built in the 14th century; it is known for its architecture that encompasses several eras and the riverside walled garden.

The town of Spalding is 45 miles from Lincoln; the town is among the main bulb growing centres in the UK providing plenty of colour. In May locals celebrate the Spalding Flower Parade and horticultural enthusiasts can enjoy the Springfield Gardens.

Tattershall Castle is located 20 miles from Lincoln, the historic 15th century castle offers visitors with six floors to explore including four great chambers with huge Gothic fireplaces, tapestries and brick vaulting. There are some truly stunning views across the fens from the battlements and a guardhouse with museum room. Visitors can use the audio guides at the castle to explore the grounds and feel a real sense of history.

Burgley House is located close to the town of Stamford in Lincolnshire; the house is among the best known attractions in the county. The 16th century house is among the grandest house of the first Elizabethan Age. The rooms have impressive collections of precious works of art and are known for its Italian paintings, Japanese ceramics and rare examples of European porcelain. There are also four State Rooms where visitors can see fine examples of English and European furniture, tapestries and textiles.

The Collection Museum and the Usher Art Gallery are located in Lincoln and include an impressive collection of fine and decorative arts. The Usher Gallery opened back in 1927 and the collection includes permanent pieces along with loans and exchanges with other museums and collections. The gallery has a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions; visitors can walk through the Temple Gardens or enjoy a picnic in scenic surroundings.

Rand Farm Park is located a few miles from Lincoln and offers a fun day out for the whole family. It is a genuine working farm for children of all ages to experience and enjoy. The farm contains a number of animals that visitors can feed, touch and cuddle. The farm offers a fun way for the whole family to learn more about farms and the animals.
