Lincoln Cathedral dates back to medieval times and incorporates Romanesque architecture. The large size of the castle ensures it can be viewed from 20 miles in all directions. The exterior of the castle is impressive having been described as art in stone, visitors can view the stunning carvings in the stones and wood. The castle is well known for the central tower that reaches in excess of 270 feet.

Dating back to the 11th century Lincoln Castle is built on the site of the Roman Fort of Lindum. The castle has a huge 12th century curtain wall along with two mottes, two gates, and a large round tower Cobb Hall. A Georgian building in the bailey contains one of the original Magna Carta documents sealed by King John. The castle includes a heraldry centre, magna carta exhibition, gift shop and café & refreshments. There are scenic grounds around the castle where many visitors enjoy picnics in a beautiful setting.

The Waterside Shopping Centre is located in the city centre and includes 35 stores including fashion stores and well known high street names. Lincolnshire has a mix of shopping centres, independent shops and traditional local markets. The area is known for its historic market towns such as Horncastle known for its antique shops.

The Normanby Hall Victorian Walled Garden is located just over 30 miles from Lincoln close to Scunthorpe, the impressive garden maintains is Victorian splendour with a range of vegetables, flowers and fruits. Visitors can see a wonderful example of a restored Victorian garden here along with the impressive English mansion house offering an interesting day out.

Grantham is a town located 25 miles from Lincoln; historic attractions include the 14th century Church of St. Wulfram, which includes a spire at close to 300 feet. The church is situated close by to the 15th century school where the famous physicist Isaac Newton was formerly a pupil, former prime minister Margaret Thatcher is also from the town. Grantham House is one of the oldest buildings in the town, having been built in the 14th century; it is known for its architecture that encompasses several eras and the riverside walled garden.

The town of Spalding is 45 miles from Lincoln; the town is among the main bulb growing centres in the UK providing plenty of colour. In May locals celebrate the Spalding Flower Parade and horticultural enthusiasts can enjoy the Springfield Gardens.

Tattershall Castle is located 20 miles from Lincoln, the historic 15th century castle offers visitors with six floors to explore including four great chambers with huge Gothic fireplaces, tapestries and brick vaulting. There are some truly stunning views across the fens from the battlements and a guardhouse with museum room. Visitors can use the audio guides at the castle to explore the grounds and feel a real sense of history.

Burgley House is located close to the town of Stamford in Lincolnshire; the house is among the best known attractions in the county. The 16th century house is among the grandest house of the first Elizabethan Age. The rooms have impressive collections of precious works of art and are known for its Italian paintings, Japanese ceramics and rare examples of European porcelain. There are also four State Rooms where visitors can see fine examples of English and European furniture, tapestries and textiles.

The Collection Museum and the Usher Art Gallery are located in Lincoln and include an impressive collection of fine and decorative arts.
