Overview


The hotel offers comfortable 4 star accommodation and facilities in a tranquil location, there is plenty of peace and quiet here and perfect for those wanting to relax and unwind. Originally a coaching inn the history of the building dates back to the 18th century. The hotel is located overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake and some of the highest fells in England.

There conferencing and banqueting facilities at the hotel making it suitable for both business and leisure guests.

Visitors can expect a friendly welcome and good levels of service at the hotel. The hotel is located next to Bassenthwaite village. The closest train station is located at Aspatria.


Facilities


There are a total of 46 guest bedrooms offering en-suite facilities. Guests can choose from standard, executive, family, four poster rooms and suites. Room facilities include television with freeview channels, direct dial telephone, radio, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities.

There is wireless broadband available free of charge and free on site car parking for guests.

The hotel has a range of leisure facilities guests can use including the indoor swimming pool, steam and sauna room, Jacuzzi and a fully featured gymnasium. There is also a games room that includes the WII and a table tennis table. There is a lawn tennis court and a 9 hole putting green for golf fans.

There are four dedicated conference rooms at the hotel with capacity for small meetings up to conferences for 175 people. The scenic surroundings of the hotel make it a popular wedding venue; there are facilities for up to 300 guests available.

Dining


Each morning guests can enjoy a hot full English breakfast or a Continental style breakfast with a choice of breads, preserves, cereals, fruits and hot and cold drinks.

The Ritson’s Lake District Restaurant offers diners with a range of temping dishes using fresh, local produce. There is a changing menu with seasonal dishes offering the best in British cuisine. There is an eclectic range of dishes with something for everyone. There are a range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes to try and there is a fine wine list for the perfect accompaniment to the meal.

The Lakers Bar offers a great place to sit back and relax with a drink beside the warmth of a fire; there are a range of drinks on offer including soft drinks, beers and wines.

Local Attractions


Attractions in the local area include Thornthwaite Forest and its woodlands, the trails of Dodd Wood and a range of walks around Bassenthwaite Lake along with the scenic natural beauty of the area. Visitors can go on a cruise on Lake Windermere located approx 30 miles away, there are guided tours including walking and coach tours available.

The hotel is a good place from which to discover other Cumbria attractions including the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Abbot and Holker Hall, Blackwell Arts and Crafts House and Wastwater Lake. The hotel is well located for discovering the north of the Lake District including the Northern Lakes and coastline and the market town of Keswick located 8 miles away.

The Lake District region is a favourite destination for those that enjoy the great outdoors and visitors can participate in a range of activities including cycling, horse riding, golf, fishing, hot air ballooning, sailing and walking.

The hotel is located close by to Bassenthwaite in the Lake District where visitors will find the renowned natural scenery, open spaces and inspiring landscapes associated with the region. There are a range of local shops including those specialising in local arts and crafts and a range of restaurants. The hotel provides a good location from which to explore local Cumbria attractions and places of interest. The A595 and A69 offer access to Newcastle Airport located approx 79 miles away by road.
