The restaurant is open to both residents and non-residents, diners can choose from the extensive table d’hôte menu which changes on a daily basis. The menu uses quality, locally sourced ingredients to create a mix of both traditional and contemporary dishes to suit all tastes. The meals are well complimented by the impressive wine list.

The Coach House Inn is open to both hotel residents and non-residents, here guests will find a laid back and relaxed atmosphere where they can enjoy lunch, dinner and drinks from the bar including real ales and a range of whiskeys.

There is a seasonal pub menu offering a range of home cooked food, the menu is known for the grill menu and offers some English favourites. There is a log fire in the winter, gardens and a children's play area in the summer.

Attractions in the local area include the South Tynedale Railway, where visitors can enjoy a leisurely trip on a steam engine train. The Thortergill Waterfall Walk, there are tearooms serving a choice of teas, coffees and food and there is a waterfalls walk. The hotel is well located to discover the North Pennies, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The hotel is a good place from which to discover Cumbria’s attractions including Lake Windermere, Beatrix Potter Gallery, Abbot and Holker Hall and Blackwell Arts and Crafts House.

The Lake District region is located close by and is ideal for those that enjoy the great outdoors and visitors can participate in a range of activities including cycling, horse riding, golf, fishing, hot air ballooning, sailing and walking.

The hotel is located close to the town of Alston in Cumbria where visitors will find the famous natural scenery and open spaces associated with the county. There are also a range of local shops including shops specialising in local arts and crafts and a range of restaurants.

The hotel provides a good base from which to explore a range of attractions in Cumbria and places of interest in Northumberland. The A69 and A696 offer access to Newcastle Airport located approx 42 miles away by road.
