Getting To Newcastle Airport

By Public Transport

Train:

There is no rail terminal at the airport, the Tyne & Wear Metro connects the airport with Newcastle Central station, and the journey time is around 30 minutes. The Metro is a light rail system that connects the areas of Newcastle, Sunderland, North and South Tyneside. Bus & Coach:

There are bus services that serve the airport, these include:
From Newcastle (Eldon Square) – Ponteland: Bus Numbers: X77, X78, X79, operate from Monday to Saturday.

From Blyth - Newcastle International Airport- Kingston Park: Bus Number: 101, operates from Monday to Saturday.

By Car

Newcastle Airport can be reached by road using the A1 and A696 that takes you to the airport.

If you are travelling from Edinburgh/North: Drive on the A68 until the interchange with the A696 at Elishaw, from there follow the A696 to the airport.

If you are travelling from the South: Drive North on the A1, that will by-pass Newcastle city centre and turn on to the A696 that will take you to the airport.

If you are travelling from the West: Take the A69 that links up with the A1 and then turn on to the A696 that will take you to the airport.

Airport Car Parking

Newcastle airport has facilities for both Short Term & Long Term Car Parking. Short term There is a facility to ark for free for up to 5 minutes at the ‘Pick Up & Drop Off’ area outside the terminal building, the cost for up to 20 minutes is £1, this is useful if you are dropping off passengers or are collecting passengers who have already checked through the terminal building. The minimum cost of parking at the short term car park is £2 for up to 20 minutes, the cost is then £6 for 2 hours and £10.50 for 4 hours. You can save on the cost of parking by pre booking.


Long Term parking is available, charges start from approx £28 per day if you pay on the day you arrive. The long term car parking can be pre booked, cheaper prices & discounts are available if you book earlier, if you do need long term airport parking it is well worth booking in advance rather than on the day to both guarantee a parking space and save money on parking costs.
