Queen Victoria opened the historic Town Hall back in 1858 and the Civic Hall.

Armley Mill was at one time the largest woollen mill in the world and is currently an acclaimed industrial museum. The City Art Gallery houses some impressive collections covering modern art, watercolours and sculptures among others.

The Leeds City Museum is located in Leeds city centre offering a fun day for the whole family. There are a range of galleries, exhibits and artefacts at the museum and temporary exhibitions that change seasonally. Exhibitions showcase the history of Leeds through time to the present day using audio visual displays.

The city of Bradford is located approx 10 miles from Leeds. The city is popular with tourists with the National Media Museum, Cartwright Hall & Mughal Garden and Salt’s Mill. The National Media Museum is one of the most popular museums outside of London and Salt’s Mill contains some fine art collections. Harewood House is located approx 9 miles from Leeds. Harewood is home to the Queen's cousin, the Earl of Harewood, the house provides an interesting day out for the whole family. The house is set in spectacular grounds, there are also formal gardens and woodland walks to enjoy. The West Yorkshire Playhouse is located in Leeds city centre. Over the years the theatre has established a fine reputation as an exciting producing theatre. Fairburn Ings is a RSPB reserve located in Castleford approx 13 miles from Leeds. The reserve includes a range of bird species that reside in the wetlands, grasslands and woodlands. Visitors can see difference species of birds with each season including migrating birds. The reserve offers an ideal place for visitors to learn more about wildlife and there are three trails that take visitors through the various habitats offering some stunning sights.

Saltaire Village is located close to Shipley in West Yorkshire approx 12 miles from Leeds. The site offers visitors the opportunity to see a 'model' Victorian industrial village. The village has been well preserved and forms an integral part of the UK's industrial heritage, the village is of historical, technological and social importance and has been recognised as such attaining the World Heritage Site (WHS) status in 2001. The main Salt Mill now includes an art gallery and a number of shops whilst the Saltaire Festival takes place in September each year. The festival celebrates arts and music and includes theatres shows, carnival parade and beer festivals.
