The Lounge and Bar provides a place where guests can sit back and relax with a choice of drinks ranging from soft drinks to a variety of beers, wines and spirits on offer. There are also a number of light bits available with snacks and light meals. The relaxed atmosphere at the lounge makes it a great place to catch up with friends and family.

The Brasserie serves contemporary brasserie style food with a number of British favourites and modern European cuisine on offer. There are a range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes for diners to choose from and a number of tempting desserts. On Sundays there is a carvery offering a range of roasts.

There are a number of local attractions and places of interest close by to the hotel, these include historic Colchester Castle, a Grade I listed building dating back to the 12th century and Colchester Zoo located on the outskirts of the town.

The town of Chelmsford is located approx 20 miles along the A12, offers a number of attractions including historic Chelmsford Cathedral dating back to the 13th century and Chelmsford Museum has exhibits outlining the history of the town from its beginnings to the modern day. Hylands House is a Grade II listed 18th century country house and park it is located approx 4 miles away, tours of the house are available.

There are a number of fine historical building in Essex such as Audley End House located near Saffron Walden. Audley End is a Jacobean mansion set in scenic landscaped gardens. Visitors can explore the interior that retains its classical details and has as number of impressive collections of fine furniture and art that make it a popular attraction.

Essex is home to a number of scenic gardens, the most famous is the RHS Garden at Hyde Hall, Rettenden.
