Local Attractions


There are a number of local attractions and places of interest close by to the hotel, including the historic Waltham Abbey Church that dates back to the 11th century. The Epping Forest District Museum is located close by from the hotel, the museum is housed inside a 16th century building and recounts the history of the area and its people from its earliest settlement to the present day.

The Lee Valley Regional Park is located a few miles from the hotel and offers fun for the whole family with green spaces, sports centres, country parks, farms and nature reserves.

Epping Forest is located a few miles away, the popular woodland area noted for its open spaces, it provides a haven away from the towns and cites. Epping Forest has woodland, grassland, rivers and ponds offering visitors with a range of activities including a number of walks, mountain biking, orienteering, rambling and horse riding.

The 18th century Hylands House is a Grade II listed country house and park it is located approx 4 miles away, tours of the house are available.

Further along the coastline Clacton-on-Sea is located 65 miles away, the seaside resort is well known for its beach and the famous pier that offers entertainment for the whole family. Golf aficionados can try a number of golf courses located within a few miles. The Princes and West Cliff theatres are located in the town centre.

There are a number of fine historical building in the county such as Audley End House located near Saffron Walden. Audley End is a Jacobean mansion located in scenic landscaped gardens. Visitors can explore the interior that retains its classical details and has as number of impressive collections of fine furniture and art that make it a popular attraction.

Essex is home to a number of scenic gardens, the most famous is the RHS Garden at Hyde Hall, Rettenden.
