There are fine collections from historical settlements, jewellery, coins and ceramics tracking back the rich history of the city.

The New forest is located approx 9 miles away, attracts millions of visitors each year. The landscape provides a haven for picnickers, walkers, cyclists, horse riders and much more. There is also a varied range of wildlife here on show; these can be seen at the New Forest Reptile Centre, which offers a number of woodland trails. The New Forest Museum & Visitor Centre located Lyndhurst provides a good base from exploring the New Forest.

Beaulieu is located in the south eastern tip of the New Forest and is among the most popular day attractions in the UK. There are a range of attractions to explore including the historic house with a range of fine collections & memorabilia, the National Motor Museum with an exhibition of over 250 vehicles and there is the Abbey and Gardens.

The town of Winchester is located approx 15 miles from the hotel; attractions here include the impressive Winchester Cathedral among the largest cathedrals in the UK. The history of the cathedral dates back to the 7th century, there are audio and guided tours available for visitors to learn more about the fascinating historical cathedral.

Winchester Castle is located 15 miles from the hotel in Winchester town centre, the historic castle dates back to the 11th century and includes The Great Hall, The Round Table and Queen Eleanor's Garden. The Great Hall is regarded as an outstanding example of 13th century architecture. The Round Table has for centuries been associated with the mysterious King Arthur. Queen Eleanor’s Garden is located next to the Great Hall and includes turf seats, a fountain and a number of flowers and herbs that were originally around at the time.

Winchester is a town that can be explored well by foot, there are many small side streets in the town with a range of small shops specialising in clothes, arts and crafts and delicatessens along with a traditional tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and galleries.

The town of Basingstoke is located approx 33 miles from the hotel, the Festival Place Shopping Centre has over 160 shops and outlets with a choice of cafes and restaurants and a cinema offering a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities.

Other attractions in Basingstoke include the Willis Museum is located in the town centre and documents the rich history of the town from its origins up to the present day. Milestones Museum recreates a living museum recreating life in Hampshire from Victorian times up to the 1930s, there are a network of streets recreating the way life was back then with a team of knowledgeable costumed interpreters.

Winchester City Mill is located in the town centre; the mill was built in the 18th century and offers a rare example of an urban working corn mill. Visitors can see mill close up and see audio visual displays, demonstrations of flour milling and take part in activities offering a fun outing for the whole family.

Marwell Wildlife is located approx 7 miles from Winchester; at the wildlife park visitors can see a wide array of animals from around the world including monkeys, buffalos, giraffes, penguins and many more. Set in 140 acres of scenic countryside, there are over 250 species of animals for visitors to see. Marwell plays a leading role in wildlife conservation and offers a fun educational day out for the whole family.

Portsmouth is another of the major centres in the county and is home to the Royal Naval Museum at the dockyard. There are a number of historic vassals on display and is a must for any maritime enthusiast. The Blue Reef Aquarium in Portsmouth is a popular attraction offering a fun day out for the whole family. There are over 40 displays of marine life from around the world; there is a huge ocean tank and an underwater tunnel where visitors can see the trilling and spectacular displays of sea life including a huge range of fish, otters and frogs.

Hurst Castle is located at the entrance to the Solent in Hampshire; the castle was built back in the 16th century under the reign of Henry VIII as a coastal fortress. The castle was built to defend the western approach to the Solent and played a part in the Napoleonic wars and in World War II. Two of the guns installed in the 1870’s can be viewed in their casemates. Visitors to the site can view the public exhibitions and exhibits and there is a cafe for refreshments.

Braxton Herb & Rose Garden is located in Milford on Sea on the Hampshire coast, the gardens are surrounded by 200 acres of farmland, the walled garden was originally planted as a herb garden and over the years the planting has increased to include some unusual garden perennials.

The Walled Cottage Garden features a Knot Garden of Germander and Cotton Lavender. The Rose garden includes almost 100 different varieties including the Eglantine Rose. There is also a lily pool and visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll through the gardens and enjoy some tea on the lawns, a quintessentially English experience especially in the summer months.

The Sir Harold Hiller Gardens are located in Romsey in Hampshire, located in 180 acres with over 42,000 plants from all over the world. Visitors can see the gardens throughout the year and see the changes in the plants as the seasons change. The gardens have summer tea rooms and a restaurant along with events and exhibitions throughout the year.

Jane Austen's House Museum is located in the village of Chawton 30 miles from the hotel, contains a number of mementoes recording her life and writings. The house is where the famous author wrote some of her most famous novels such as Pride & Prejudice. She spent the majority of her life in Hampshire finding inspiration in the county, when writing her works she drew inspiration from friends, social occasions and places all over Hampshire, making Hampshire Jane Austin's County.

The Royal Navy Submarine Museum is located in Gosport, Hampshire. Visitors can go onboard the World War II submarine, the HMS Alliance and hear stories about living in a submarine. Other attractions include the first submarine of the Royal Navy the Hollond 1, which is over a century old. There are history galleries outlining the heroic feats of the Victoria Cross submariners. There is a replica of the Drebbel, built in the 17th century and regarded as the world’s first practical submarine. There are snacks and drinks available at the coffee shop that overlooks Portsmouth Harbour.

Mottisfont is an impressive historic house and estate located close to Romsey in Hampshire. The estate is under the care of the National Trust, the house here was formerly a medieval monastery. Mottisfont Abbey forms the corner piece of the estate and is located in beautiful grounds. There is plenty of history for visitors to explore here including the remains of the 13th century Augustinian priory. The estate is where visitors can find the National Collection of Old-Fashioned Roses which bloom in June only attracting many visitors

Poultons Park is an adventure theme park located close to the New Forest in Hampshire. There are over 50 different rides and attractions here offering a fun filled day out the family can enjoy. There are a range of things to see and do here ranging from both thrilling and more gentle rides to museums, animated shows plays areas for children and fun activities in the gardens. There are a variety of places serving food and drinks with a range of snacks and hot and cold meals available.
