The hotel is housed inside a historic period building that retains much of its historic character and charm, whilst inside the hotel offers top class modern facilities. The hotel facilities make it suitable for business and leisure guests. The hotel is located opposite the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, Newbury, Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds. The location makes the hotel a good base from which to explore the central England & Midlands area.

Local transport links in the area include Oxford train station located approx half a mile from the hotel. From Oxford railway station there are services to London Paddington station and other local and regional areas including Reading, Worcester, Coventry and Birmingham. The hotel is close by to major roads including the A34 and M40 providing good road connections.

Visitors can expect a friendly welcome with good levels of service at the hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Oxford city centre where visitors can find good access to local amenities, visitor attractions, dining and entertainment facilities. The closest train stations to the hotel are located at Oxford, Radley, Islip.



Facilities


There are a total of 32 en-suite guest bedrooms at the hotel. The guest rooms are furnished and decorated to a good standard offering comfortable 3 star accommodation. Guests can choose from double/twin rooms with a choice of standard and executive rooms.

Room facilities include television, telephone, radio, alarm clock, hairdryer, trouser press, iron and ironing facilities, work desk, seating area and tea and coffee making facilities. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

All rooms are non-smoking at the hotel in accordance with hotel policy.

Chargeable Wi-Fi internet access is available at the hotel. There are on-site car parking facilities for hotel guests, pre-booking is required and the approx cost is £27 per day.

The hotel includes a mini-gym and a luxurious Spa that includes sauna, ice fountain, Jacuzzi, steam room. The Spa offers a choice of health and beauty treatments including pampering treatments.

The Restaurant at the Randolph 1649 serves a range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes along with a choice of starters and tempting desserts. The restaurant offers both table d'hôte and à la carte menus serving the best in British cuisine, the restaurant has built up an enviable reputation as among the very best dining establishments in Oxford. Diners can choose from the wine list and find the perfect accompaniment to their meals.

The Morse Bar provides guests the opportunity to relax in classical surroundings with a choice of drinks available including, soft drinks, beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. The bar has an open fire place and classical elegant décor and is an ideal place to catch up with friends, family and colleagues.

The Drawing Room includes a pianist and provides an elegant setting where guests can enjoy famous afternoon tea complete with tea, scones and clotted cream with champagne available for those special occasions.

Local Attractions


The county of Oxfordshire is a place full of history and character. The county includes a number of fine historic buildings and monuments and of the finest universities in the world. The county is located relatively close to London meaning day trips are possible for visitors based in London. It also makes a convenient location for a weekend or bank holiday break with the short travelling time involved.

Many visitors to the area are drawn to Oxford, its collages and associated attractions. Oxfordshire also has plenty of scenic English countryside, charming towns and villages and two notable ranges of hills, the Cotswolds to the west and the Chilterns to the east.

The villages on the banks of the rivers are particularly scenic providing some picture perfect photo opportunities. The Oxfordshire Cotswolds has long been a favourite for those seeking some peace and quiet and a countryside retreat, the region has some charming villages, with cottages exhibiting the famed Cotswold limestone.

The city of Oxford has a relatively small city centre that is packed full of interesting tourist attractions, the crowds flock here to see the sites. Oxford University has helped put Oxford on the world map and ensures this town is famous the world over as home to one of the most celebrated universities in the world. The university consists of over 30 colleges that are located around the city. The various colleges range in size from the large and visible to visitors to others that are smaller and hidden away on small side streets. Christ Church is the largest college in Oxford it is currently the only college in the world with a cathedral within its walls. The college has produced a number of famous students over the years, including Albert Einstein who studied for a brief period in the 1930s. The College has helped produced a large number of British Prime Ministers, a number of Cabinet ministers, Bishops and civil servants. Visitors can see the great hall and the impressive cathedral. Christ Church is also known as the setting for `Hogwarts' in the Harry Potter films.

Didcot has historically enjoyed strong railway links and hosts the Didcot Railway Centre located next to the railway that houses one of the largest collection of steam engines and a rebuilt station. For fans of steam railways there are “Sunday Steam Days” during the summertime. Long Wittenham located close by has the Pendon Museum, where visitors can see model size recreations of a 1930s village and a model railway. Abingdon is a town lying on the River Thames approx 8 miles from Oxford, it is famous for its 7th century Abbey. The Abbey buildings are a popular place to visit in the town where you can learn more about the local history of the region.

Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology is located in Oxford city centre. Established back in 1683 and has the distinction of being the oldest museum in the UK and one of the oldest in the world. The museum houses collections of antiquities and art works that have both great national and international importance. The collection includes a huge range spread over several hundred years ranging from the ancient civilisations of Egypt, Rome and Greece to Renaissance Europe to the 20th century. The museum includes a Far Eastern collection along with sculptures, paintings, ceramics, coins, glass and musical instruments, with plenty to see and do for visitors.

Blenheim Palace is located a few miles outside Oxford. Visitors to the historic site can see the historic palace and impressive gardens. The palace is home to the 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of former prime minister Sir Winston Churchill, it is imposing with a wonderful sense of history and offers an interesting place for tourists to explore.

The palace is located in over 2,000 acres of scenic parkland, the palace is set in a most memorable scene with lawns and gardens surrounding it, there is also a lake on the grounds. Inside the palace there is some very intricate detail in the carvings and the hand painted ceilings. There are also a number of impressive collections that have been built up over the years, collections includes porcelain, tapestries and paintings. The grandeur of the state rooms are an impressive sight and for many visitors is one of the main highlights of the palace.

An intriguing attraction is Uffington White Horse, where the mysterious White Horse is carved into the chalk hillside above the village of Uffington in Oxfordshire. The mystery has led to a number of possible interpretations of the carvings and its meaning indeed some believe that it may be a dragon and not a horse. There are also conspiracy theories and the theory it was done as a signal to extraterrestrials. The horse is 374 feet from end to end.

The New Theatre in Oxford is located in the centre of the city. The theatre is host to a number of shows playing throughout the year, the shows are varied and cater for all tastes. The theatre also caters for children in shows designed to appeal for to them, thus a fun family theatre afternoon or evening can be enjoy here by everyone.
