Local Attractions
The city of Brighton is among the most popular and famous tourist destination on the south coast. The city offers visitors a number of attractions for the whole family, including the famous beech and pier, historic attractions such as the Royal Pavilion and St Paul’s Church, the Theatre Royal and Brighton Dome offer a range of dance musicals, comedies and drama. The South Downs around Eastbourne are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB); there are the iconic high cliffs at Beachy Head standing at over 500 feet where visitors can see some stunning views over Eastbourne and the English Channel in the distance. The historic town of Hastings is famous for its beach, Hastings Castle, the Bluereef Aquarium and A Smugglers Adventure at St Clements Caves. Battle Abbey is located in East Sussex on the site of the famous 1066 Battle of Hastings. There is an exhibition and interactive displays outlining the battle, there is an audio tour of the battle charting key events.
