Winter Sun

As winter approaches, you may think there is a long, cold winter ahead. That thought is enough to dampen the spirits of even the most heartiest individuals. However it does not have to be like that, the phenomenon of the winter sun holiday looks like it is here to stay. An ever increasing number of people regard their winter break as an essential part of their holiday plans. So where can you go to avoid the winter blues?

Here are some places worth considering:

Cyprus

Cyprus is blessed with one of the mildest climates in the mediterranean, in Nov and Dec the temperatures are in the low 70s. The sunshine island does not disappoint with an average of 7 hours sunshine in the winter.

Goa, India

Goa has long been established as one of India’s top tourist destinations. The miles of unspoilt beaches while enjoying temperatures well in to the 80s in Dec and Jan mean no hint of winter here. It offers good value for money and has a wide range of accommodation ranging from hostels to luxury hotels.

Kenya

Kenya is a popular destination for those in search of winter breaks. In Jan and Feb temperatures in Mombasa can go well in to 90s, it is a land of stunning natural landscapes and wildlife, making it one of the most intriguing places who are likely to visit. It offers good value for money and a stay in a top class hotel can cost less than you think.

Middle East

Dubai is a firmly established winter break destination, its desert location results in year round sunshine. Temperatures are well in the 80s in Feb and Mar with an average of 8 to 9 hours of sunshine daily. It is cosmopolitan and offers deserts, mountains, great shopping malls and some of the most stunning architecture you are likely to see. While Dubai is the established destination do not forget Oman that is fast gaining an enviable reputation for quality offering pretty much everything Dubai does at a lower cost.

Caribbean

The Caribbean enjoys temperatures in the 80s in the winter months with plenty of sunshine ensuring it is a great location for a winter getaway. The Bahamas offers some great luxury hotels and Spas comparable to most in the world. Great value is evident in the Dominican Republic that has emerged as a preferred destination. Add established favourites Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago and you have a great choice of islands to explore.

These are just some of the many places that you could consider when deciding on where to enjoy Winter Sun. You do not have to grin and bear it any longer…
