The capital of Greece is a relatively short flight from the UK, steeped in history and culture it has some of the finest ancient sites in the world such as the Acropolis. The vibrant nightlife means what to do after dinner is not a problem.
Barcelona
The capital of Catalunya is a city of character and has enjoyed an ever increasing amount of visitors. Only a few hours from the UK, it is close enough to enjoy most of your weekend there. A mild climates means it is a great place for a break at most times of the year. Renowned as a romantic city, a favourite activity is to go for a romantic walk on the marina and see the splendour of the harbour. Dublin
Dublin is a firm favourite for those wanting a short break. It is the weekend stag and hen party capital of Europe. A trip to coincide with the St Patrick’s Day celebrations in full swing would reveal a partying city and a great atmosphere. For Guinness enthusiasts a trip to the Guinness museum is worth a visit, there are over 700 pubs in the city ensuring you are not likely to be thirsty for long. A selection of bars and restaurants are scattered all over the city along with a selection of stately homes and beautiful parks.
Paris
The proximity of Paris to the UK allows a short break by both air or train. One of the most visited cities in the world, it has a ‘je ne sais qua’ and caters for all tastes and budgets. With the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triumphe to name but a few, Paris has more than its fair share of world famous monuments. Enjoy a cruise on the river Seine and see Paris by night when the city really lights up and comes to life. There are a number of acclaimed galleries and museums to explore.
Venice
Venice is a destination like few others, a short flight from the UK and you are transported to a city with seemingly endless canals and gondolas. The city oozes charm and character and its maze of backstreets provide plenty of opportunity to walk around and take in the atmosphere. The city is set in a lagoon and surrounded by water, the centrepiece is the majestic Piazza San Marco also known as St. Mark’s square.
