Business Customs and Etiquette
Business meetings need to be booked in advance, business dress is smart and conservative, greetings are usually with a handshake. Punctuality and good time keeping are deemed as essential qualities, there is often little small talk and the business on the agenda is discussed. Business cards are exchanged after introductions. There is strict adherence to procedures and protocols with the agreements and contracts being meticulously checked.
Ensure proposals, paper work and presentations are of a very high standard and have been thoroughly checked. Decisions can take time with bureaucracy and hierarchical decision making. Many business people in Luxembourg speak English, however there are translators available if needed. The holiday season includes Easter week, July and August and Christmas and New Year, when businesses may be closed; it is best to avoid visiting for business at these times.

Luxembourg has temperate climate with cool to warm summers and mild winters, there is rainfall throughout the year. Between the north and south of the country there are differences in temperatures especially in the summer months where the temperatures in the south may be noticeably higher than in the north. The sunniest time is the May to September period. Luxembourg’s climate ensuring it is a destination that can be visited throughout the year.
Lightweight cotton and linen clothing can be warn in the summer months; additional layers and warmer clothing is required during the autumn and winter months. It is useful to have water proof clothing throughout the year with rain coats and umbrellas.
