The country pub is housed inside a building that gives it plenty of charm and character. The Gastro-pub has earned a fine reputation for the quality of its meals and its 4 star accommodation. The Talbot is located in the scenic Dorset countryside between Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum.

The hotel is located in Iwerne Minster a few miles from both the towns of Shaftsbury and Blandford Forum where visitors can find good access to local amenities. There are a total of 5 guest bedrooms which offer en-suite facilities. Guests can choose from double and family rooms. Room facilities include flat screen television, hairdryer, work desk and tea and coffee making facilities. All of the rooms are non-smoking. It should be noted all bedrooms are on the first floor and access is only via stairs.

The restaurant serves a range of dishes reflecting the best in British cuisine; the menu is ever changing to reflect the seasons. The restaurant uses fresh, local produce to create a range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes for guests to try. There are a range of wines to choose from to accompany your meal. The restaurant has a log fire in winter; guests can also eat at the Lounge Bar and enjoy al fresco dining on the terrace.

The Lounge Bar serves a range of drinks ranging from soft drinks to a range of beers, wines, ales and spirits.

Local Attractions


Attractions in the local area include the Larmer Tree Gardens, the Dorset Steam Fair and the Stourhead Gardens. There are a number of market towns close by that include Shaftesbury, Blandford, Gillingham, Sturminster Newton and Wimborne.

Bournemouth is located approx 25 miles away and offers the beach, Bournemouth Oceanarium and Bournemouth Eye where visitors can experience a hot air balloon ride. The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) is a multi purpose exhibition, leisure and conference venue.

The town of Poole is located approx 20 miles away and offers attractions of its own including Poole Park, the Dolphin Shopping Centre and the Lighthouse Art Centre. Poole Quay is among the largest natural harbour in the world and is a place here visitors will find a range of restaurants and bars to suit a range of tastes and a continental style atmosphere.

The hotel is a convenient place from which to discover a number of attractions in the New Forest National Park. The New Forest is located approx 20 miles away and offers visitors with a range of activities to try including a wide range of walks and tours to activities such as cycling, sailing and water sports, horse riding, kite flying, fishing, rock climbing and many more.

The location of the hotel offers visitors the opportunity to further discover the area and a range of attractions in the county of Dorset and neighbouring Devon to the south including attractions such as the Dartmoor National Park and the various beaches of the English Riviera including Torquay and Paignton.

The Dorset & East Devon Coast contains the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The WHS runs along the coastal route from Dorset up to East Devon for approx 95 miles in length. Along the route visitors can see the stunning natural coastal scenery and visit a number of historic towns and villages to visit. The coastline is rich in history and culture and has a range of beaches for visitors to enjoy.
