Visa Requirements

Business Customs and Etiquette

Business meetings should be arranged in advance, letters of introduction can also be useful when doing business in Poland. Business dress is conservative and smart. Greetings usually consist of a handshake. Initial meetings can be very formal and titles and surnames are used, should wait to be invited before using first names. Giving business cards to all in meeting is accepted custom.

Business meetings may take the form of lunches and dinners, it is usually the person who issues he invitation to the meeting that pays. Business decisions are often made by committee, negotiations can take time and be protracted with a deal confirmed when all parties agree. Some Polish business people speak English, translators are available if needed.


Travel Advice and Tips

The majority of trips to Poland for business visitors and tourists take place each year without incident. You should be aware of pick pockets and thefts of passports and at ATM machines. It is advisable to stay away from unregulated taxis, there have been incidents of over charging, using official taxis is recommended. Car crime means valuables should not be left in the car, valuables should also not be visible in public. It is wise to always remain vigilant and alert to your surroundings and environment to help avoid any undue incidents.

Poland Weather & Climate

Poland's climate is temperate characterised by warm to hot summers and cold winters, the varied geography in the country results in the climate being Oceanic in the north and becomes more Continental and warmer in the south. Spring and summer (April to September) are popular times to visit Poland with pleasant temperatures and the possibility of some very hot days in July and August. Winter are cold and snowfall covers the mountains from December to April, there is rainfall throughout the year

Lightweight cotton and medium weight clothing can be warn in the summer months; Mountain/Alpine wear clothing is required in the mountain regions throughout the year. Additional layers and warmer/heavyweight clothing is required during the autumn and especially cold winter months.
